Immigrant and Refugee Commission to inaugurate in Aurora

Following the recent creation of the Office of International and Immigrant Affairs in September 2015, the Immigrant and Refugee Commission is slated to start working in late October of this year in the city of Aurora, Colorado. This Commission seeks to integrate immigrants and refugees in the public and civil life of the city, and will be integrated by 11 members, preferably with prior experience in immigration affairs. Applications are currently being accepted for its integration; among other functions, the Commission will advise the city council on affairs of local interest involving the immigrant population. This decision by the city of Aurora is part of a growing movement towards the integration of this demographic, and will serve to ensure due representation for this frequently excluded sector. Other cities of the United States have already opened up commissions of this nature, or about to inaugurate them. Follow this link for more information: www.auroragov.org.
